He was also shot in the chest, they said. This, firefight occurred in a high-walled Pakistani compound where U.S. forces found 23 children, nine women, a bin Laden courier who had unwittingly led the U.S. to its target, a son of bin Laden who was also slain, and more.
According to the U.S. account, the assault team came away with hard drives, DVDs, documents and more that might tip U.S. intelligence to al-Qaeda's operational details and perhaps lead the manhunt to the presumed next-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahri. The CIA is already going over the material.

Bin Laden, the al-Qaida leader and architect of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack on US soil was killed in a firefight in Pakistan on Monday. He was then quickly buried at sea, after a decade on the run. aftermath video here.
